Miami, FL
I moved into this apartment a few months after graduating from college. I had never been to Miami before I moved in. I was a scared 22-year-old preparing to begin my Master's at UM. I had never lived in a major metropolitan area, so this neighborhood was a safe and approachable start to my new life in Miami. This apartment was perfect for a master's student. A quick 8-minute drive to campus. I lived with three different roommates when I lived in this apartment. My original landlord was wonderful. However, she sold the unit about a year into me living there. The second landlord I had there was a nightmare. Cutting corners with repairs, continuously raising the rent; I certainly missed my original landlord. I did not get much exercise much in 2021-2022, but there were no elevators, so walking up three flights of stairs kept me in as good of shape as I could have hoped for during this chapter of my life. There was also only one parking spot per unit, so I would often park in guest parking, and if there was none left, I would have to park outside the complex, which I did not love. I was in an extremely toxic relationship most of my time living here. The residence saw the countless tears I cried over the years. However, a bunch of homemade pizzas were cooked in the oven, countless bottles of overly sweet wine, and tons of Zing-Zang Bloody Maries were consumed in this two bedroom apartment. Many sad memories live in the walls of this dwelling, but so do the small wins and changes I made during my early 20s. There is a Pinecrest Bakery and Winn-Dixie in the shopping center right by the apartment complex, which was great for late night and last minute runs. Overall, this was a great apartment for my early adulthood, but eventually I outgrew it. Not a bad option for a new grad dipping their toes into the adult world and wanting to live with a roommate and share a 2bd/2bth.
